Potti Sriramulu remembered on his death anniversary
The Prakasam district Arya Vysya Sangham paid rich tributes to Potti Sriramulu and remembered his services to the state on his death anniversary on Friday.
Ongole: The Prakasam district Arya Vysya Sangham paid rich tributes to Potti Sriramulu and remembered his services to the state on his death anniversary on Friday.
The Arya Vysya Sangham president Gunupudi Bhaskar and other members garlanded the statue of Potti Sriramulu in front of the Arya Vysya Bhavan in Ongole.
Bhaskar explained the services of Sriramulu to the people present and said that though the state government had named the native district of Sriramulu as Potti Sriramulu Nellore district, nobody makes efforts to use the full name.
He demanded that the government make it compulsory to call the district as Potti Sriramulu Nellore district instead of Nellore district. He also said that forefathers of Sriramulu were from Padamati Palle village in PC Palle mandal in the Praksam district and asked the government to allot land in that village and construct a memorial building there.
The Vasavi Club youth division also offered tributes to Potti Sriramulu by garlanding his statue at the Thatha building center with the president, Tummapudi Bucchibabu and others.
