She participated as the chief guest for the two-day-long ‘45th JL Nehru Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition for Children-2017’ at the AMG English Medium School organized by the district education department.
Speaking on this occasion, the Mayor said that such exhibitions aid in the development of skill and talent among children.
Another guest and the Chairman of Zilla Parishad, Jyothula Navin Kumar said that the Chief Minister was very particular about preserving groundwater by establishing harvest pits, check dams and “Jalasiri” programmes.
District Educational Officer Abraham said that this science exhibition was started post a gap of five years following instructions from the government.
He further said that the East Godavari district students had won prizes in the International Science Congress held in Japan. He informed that about 170 science projects would be exhibited in the current event.
Additional Joint Collector Radha Krishna Murthy, Deputy Director, PR M Francis and SSA Project Officer Seshagiri also spoke at the meeting. Earlier, the science exhibition was inaugurated by the ZP Chairman, Jyothula Navin Kumar after paying floral tributes to the portrait of noted scientist, CV Raman.
Deputy Education Officers Ganesh Kumar, Vadapalli, G Vasantha Kumari, Vani Kumari, Corporator Sunitha, teachers and students participated.
