Ryots demand Guntur channel extension

Guntur: Farmers under the banner of Nallamada Rytu Sangham staged a relay fast at Pedanandipadu RTC Bus Centre demanding that the government extend Guntur channel up to Parachuru to solve drinking water problem on Wednesday.

“Currently, the farmers in 50 villages in the five mandals are not getting sufficient water,” they said, demanding to extend the channel up to Parachur. Nallamada Rytu Sangham leader Rammohan Raju reminded that the State Assembly passed a resolution in 1961 to extend the channel up to Parachur. Since then no action has been taken to solve the drinking water problem in the villages. The mob raised slogans demanding the government to solve the problem.
