The children supported their parents and grandparents in bringing out the old and broken furniture, papers along with wood, specially bought for the bonfire. The women arranged pots filled with water to heat and used them to bathe the children. They blessed the children by showering Bhogipallu on them.

The temples like Chennakesava Swami Temple, Saibaba Temple received a large number of devotees and the priests offered blessings.

Minister Siddha Raghavarao wished the public to have a happy and prosperous life ahead and wanted the farmers have a happy and fruitful year. “Sankranthi festival has come to the state a bit earlier with the Janmabhoomi Maa Vooru programme.” He wished the poor who got Chandranna Sankranthi Kanuka to celebrate the festival.

Ongole MP YV Subbareddy participated in the celebrations organised by the Lions Club at Lawyerpet and said that Sankranthi was the festival that marked Telugu culture and tradition. “The festival brings together the young and old. I wish the festival also brings health and wealth to the people,” the MP stated.
