Religious fervour marks Bhogi

Rajamahendravaram: Bhogi festival, the first day of the three-day Sankranthi festival was celebrated with religious fervor in the city.

The people after having a bath arranged Bhogi Mantalu in every nook of the city and threw in cow dung cakes to the fire. From Saturday midnight, the people gathered necessary wood for Bhogi Mantalu.

Later, the women installed Gobbemmalu with colors at their houses and offered prayers wearing new clothes. The entire city wore a festive look and all the roads seen busy with the people. Serpentine queues were seen at the temples of worship.
