Ongole: The QIS College of Engineering and Technology organised an awareness programme on the importance of vote on Monday, as part of the National Voters Day to be observed on January 25.

Participating as chief guest, Deputy MRO Shafi Ahmed explained the importance of vote to the students. “The youth are not showing interest in giving vote in the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections,” he pointed out. He interacted with the students on the factors influencing them not to come forward and vote in the elections. He then explained that voters’ reluctance to vote jeopardised the chances of electing a good representative.

The college principal Dr Kilari Veeraswamy asked the students to show respect on the Constitution and utilise their vote in the next elections. The officers distributed the voter registration forms to the students who have not registered for the vote yet. The college secretary and correspondent and Nidamanuri Surya Kalyan Chakravarthy were present at the event.
