Kakinada: A 2K Walk programme, ‘Feet on the Street’ was organised by Surya Global Hospitals here on Sunday, to observe the World Cancer Day.

The programme started at Team Hospital at Nagamalli Thota Junction and ended at Bhanugudi Junction. Speaking on the occasion, the Surya Global Hospitals chairman and surgical oncologist Veerraju explained about the precautionary measures that everybody should follow in their daily lifestyles, after crossing forty years of age. He advised that early detection and proper treatment would give 90 percent success in cancer cases. He advised patients to stay away from oily foods, junk foods and smoking.

Veerraju also advised patients not to use the recycled oil for cooking. He said that taking fruits and protein food was a better choice than the fried foods. The doctor advised that all the people should go for a checkup after they reach the age of 40. Dr Veerraju said that they had been conducting a ‘Sky Lantern’ programme at the NTR Beach to create awareness on cancer.

Kakinada Rural MLA Pilli Anantha Lakshmi, SP Vishal Gunni, Mayor Pavani, ZP Chairman Jyothula Naveen, DCC President Pantam Nanaji, MLC Chikkala Ramachandra Rao, Dr PN Reddy and others participated in the 2K walk.
