Vijayawada: For world peace and prosperity, the committee of Arunaparayanam organised ‘Soura Yagam’ on the premises of Vijayeswara Swamy Temple atop Indrakeeladri here on Sunday.

During this ‘Maghamasam’, Arunaparayanam would be chant every Sunday morning and also on the auspicious days like Radhasaptami and Magha Poornima. It is belief of the devotees that Sun god will bless with wealth and prosperity. It is also mentioned in the Vedas. On Sunday, ‘Maha Soura yagam’ was performed as per Rugveda, ‘Tittireya Aaranya’ as per Yajurveda. Aruna Parayanam and Surya Namaskaram were also conducted.

Speaking on the occasion, Pasumarthy Kameswara Sarma, the organiser said performing these yagas and Yagnas as per Vedas would give health to society. Even by witnessing these spiritual events, people would get peace. Dasika Krishna Mohan, Kuchibhotla Phani, Prakash, Kappagantula Murali Rama Krishna Sastry and others participated in this event. Hundreds of devotees watched the Soura yaga.
