Ongole: The Praksam district unit of Communist Party of India (Marxist) started relay hunger strike from Friday, demanding that the government allocate sufficient funds for the development of the district and completion of pending projects immediately.

The leaders announced that they were ready to lay siege to the collectorate on March 12, if the district TDP leaders failed to explain the measures being taken by them to convince the chief minister and bring funds to the district.

The CPM East unit secretary, Punati Anjaneyulu said that the government did grave injustice to the district in the budget allocations. He said that the TDP MLAs from the district didn’t try to take initiative to discuss and get funds for the problems in the district. He said that the 12 projects in the district were not completed for years. There was no MSP for crops apart from increasing migrations. But there was no help for the district development so far, they alleged.

Anjaneyulu announced that his party would agitate if the district TDP president and Ongole MLA Damacharla Janardhan and minister from the district Siddha Raghavarao failed to speak to the chief minister and answer the public by Sunday. If they fail to do it, the Communist parties would lay siege to the collectorate on Monday, he announced.
