Kakinada: The strike by Andhra Pradesh Junior Doctors Association (AP JUDA) affected the patients at Government General Hospital (GGH) where the junior doctors restricted themselves to emergency cases only.

The GGH is the largest hospital and people from all corners of the district visit this hospital for treatment. The average daily density of the outpatient rush is nearly about 3000. There are 1500 to 1700 in patients who are under the medical supervision of the doctors at this GGH at all the 24 wards. There are 500 doctors who serve the public during the normal days besides the JUDAs.

As the JUDAs strike entered the sixth day on Wednesday, they have been continuing their protest alleging that the government was not fulfilling their rightful demands. On Wednesday, some junior doctors wore some flowers on their ears and sang spoofs of famous songs.

The JUDA Kakinada president, Mohammad Nooruddin said that their talks with the GGH Superintendent Raghavendra Rao and RMC Principal Mahalakshmi were not fruitful on Tuesday night. Issues like registering their degrees, release and hike of stipends just stopped at the GOs stage.

He also informed that APMC Chairman assured them that if the government makes amendments in the AP Medical Registration Act in the current Assembly meetings they would register their degrees. Nooruddin made it clear that they would continue their stir until the government fulfils all their demands.
