Vijayawada: To break the religious ‘folly’, Atheists Association (Nastika Sangam) from various places will celebrate Ugadi festival here on March 18, Ugadi Festival Committee convener Pinnamaneni Murali has said.

Speaking to the media persons here on Friday, he said, “To break the religious ‘madness’ of the festivals, around seven organisations belongs to rationalists, progressive and the atheists will participate in the Telugu New year Ugadi celebrations which will be organised at Makineni Basavapunnaiah Vignana Kendram on March 18.”

They would like to organise Ugadi festival without the shades of religion. In spite of vast advancement of science, people were still leaving in a folly culture. Cultural programmes like poetic prisms, group songs, music and Vemana nrutya rupakam would be held, he added.

The programme would be held from 9 am to 2 pm. Eminent guests from various places would address the gathering, he informed. The committee secretary, Motukuli Arun Kumar, representatives UV Ramaraju, GV Rangareddy and Gunda Narayana were present.
