Steel bridge collapses 3 years after repair

In a press statement here on Friday, the CPM secretary said that the century-old steel girder bridge across Apparao Channel at China Kasirevu in Nidadavole collapsed on March 14. He pointed out that this bridge was renovated by spending Rs 90 lakh in 2015 by R and B department.
However, within two years it was collapsed as the officials failed to stop the heavy vehicles to cross the bridge. He said that the Chinakasi Revu had a prominence for the transportation and main centre. As it collapsed, people had been facing troubles and another bridge nearby this bridge also ready to collapse at any time, he warned. He asked the government to safeguard the other bridge also and conduct an inquiry into the steel bridge collapse incident.
