As many as 55,167 candidates appeared for SSC English paper I examination held at various examination centres across the district on Monday, according to the District Educational Office MV Rajya Lakshmi. As many as 55,338 candidates had applied and 55,167 attended the English paper I with 99.69 per cent present while 171 candidates were reported absent.

As many as 55,338 candidates had applied and 55,167 attended the English paper I with 99.69 per cent present while 171 candidates were reported absent.

Krishna District Collector Lakshmikantam visited one examination centre, the Regional Joint Director (SE), Kakinada visited three examination centres, DEO visited three examination centres, the DLO visited three examination centres, the Flying Squad visited 75 examination centres and the MROs visited five exam centres. According to the DEO, there was no report of malpractice from any centre in the district.

The examination was held peacefully under the supervision of 2,950 invigilators at 268 centres in the district. After the examination was completed, the answer papers were kept under the custody at the nearest police stations. Custodians were deployed at the examinations centres, which are far from the police stations and treasury offices. In each flying squad team there was one officer from the Educational Department, one from Revenue Department, a Sub-Inspector and one Armed Reserve police, she added.
