He was chief guest at 5-day entrepreneurship development programme on Solar PV Rooftop, organised by the Gandhigram Rural Institute, Tamil Nadu which began on March 24. Rao said that the government of AP had set a target to produce 2,000 MW from rooftop solar system by 2022. To achieve, it requires professional development at various levels including trained entrepreneurs. The training programme would ensure a comprehensive understanding of the Solar PV Rooftop sector amongst stakeholders entering into this sector.

United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Partnership to Advance Clean Energy (PACE) consultant Deepanker Bishnoi informed that it was flagship programme on clean energy between the US and India to jointly work on a range of issues related to energy security, clean energy and climate change.

The programme focuses on energy efficiency (EE), renewable energy (RE) and cleaner fossil technologies, with cross-cutting activities on institutional strengthening, capacity building and training, and clean energy finance. In the programme, Gandhigram Rural Institute will extend training to graduates and new entrepreneurs in Andhra Pradesh under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
