Guntur: MLC Dokka Manikya Varaprasad and GMC Commissioner Srikanth B Lathkar, paid tributes to late deputy prime minister Babu Jagjivan Ram by garlanding his statue here on the occasion of his 111th birth anniversary on Thursday.
Speaking on this occasion, Dokka Manikya Varaprasad said that Jagjivan Ram tried to uplift the weaker sections and introduced welfare schemes for their empowerment.
Drawing inspiration from him, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was implementing several welfare schemes for the poor and downtrodden. He urged the students of the weaker sections to work hard to come up in life.Joint Collector Intiaz Ahmed, DRO K Nagababu were among those who participated.
