Kakinada: Minister for Sports Kollu Ravindra made it clear that the government would construct NTR Sports Development Centres in all the 177 Assembly constituencies in the State.

Accompanied by Home Minister Ch China Rajappa, Ravindra participated in the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the NTR Sports Development Centre, which would be built at a cost of Rs 2 crore at Peddapuram on Tuesday evening.

Speaking on this occasion, Ravindra informed that the government was implementing NTR Kreeda Vikasa Padhakam in all the constituencies in the state. He suggested the youth to participate in sports like tennis, volleyball, kabaddi, badminton and others at the Kreeda Vikasa Kendras.

He recalled that tennis star Chinagandham Mahesh Bhupati belonged to Peddapuram town and brought laurels to the town by achieving success internationally by adopting sports as a career. The government would build a swimming pool near the centre as per the request of the Peddapuram Municipal Chairman Suri Babu Raju. The minister told the officials to suggest a suitable place for the swimming pool.

In his speech, Home Minister Rajappa informed that good sportspersons were representing his constituency and many more players would emerge after the completion of the sports stadium here.

He announced that the government would provide a central lighting system in Peddapuram town at a cost of Rs 5 crore. Revenue Minister KE Krishna Murthy would lay the foundation stone for the RDO and Tehsildar offices at Peddapuram on Thursday. Later, Ministers Rajappa and Ravindra visited the Shatabdi Park and distributed the pensions to the beneficiaries.

Municipal chairman Raja Suribabu Raju presided over the meeting.SAAP MD Bangarraju, RDO Visweshwara Rao, ATMA chairman Rambabu, MPP Gudala Ramesh and others participated.
