Non-veg consumption at Ghantasala College condemned

Vijayawada: Former MLA Malladi Vishnu demanded that the government take action against the officials who permitted consumption of non-vegetarian food at Ghantasala Music College here.

Addressing the media here on Friday, Vishnu alleged that non-vegetarian food was served on the college premises on the occasion of BC Welfare Conference held on April 12, which was objectionable.

He said that the Director, Department of Culture D Vizai Bhaskar and Assistant Director Mallikarjun had violated the Music College rules and regulations and damaged the sentiments of classical music lovers. He said that the Music College was a divine place and permitting non-vegetarian food was unpardonable.

Ghantasala Sangeeta Parirakshana Samiti president S Subrahmanyam said according to the by-laws of the music college, they should not permit non-vegetarian on the premises.

Music college old students association secretary NCH Achary said the alleged officer happened to be an artist himself and violating such rules and baseless comments against the Hindu gods would lead to communal disturbance.Artists Association leader K Balarama Krishna Murthy and other old students of the music college were present.
