Kakinada: District Joint Collector A Mallikarjuna, directed the fire department officials to create awareness on fire hazards and preventive measures to the public.

He inaugurated the Fire Safety Week at Salipeta Fire Station on Saturday. Speaking on this occasion, the JC announced that the fire safety celebrations would last till April 20.

The Joint Collector also informed that the fire department officials display their firefighting equipment and rescue equipment to the public. He suggested the fire department officials that they should create awareness to the school and college students on fire accidents. He also instructed them to demonstrate prevention of fire caused by the LPG cylinders and electrical short circuit.

District Fire Officer G Ratna Babu said that their department staff was playing an important role in dealing with major fire accidents occurred in the district and expressed hope that their staff would continue the same spirit in the future to tackle the fire accidents.

Later, the Joint Collector closely observed the firefighting and rescue equipment which was kept on display. In this connection, JC flagged off the fire safety vehicles and unveiled the wall posters on fire safety week celebrations. JC paid tributes to the martyrs who lost their lives in firefighting.

District Assistant Fire Officer Ramanayya, Fire Officers M Raja, G Rajendra Prasad and school students participated in the celebrations.Later, the fire department officials took out an awareness rally on firefighting in the city.
