Hundreds of people participated in Kanchi Paramacharya Paduka Yatra held here on Sunday. After offering prayers at Saraswathi Ghat, the yatra commenced from Saraswathi Ghat and many elite of the city carried the Pallaki on their shoulders in which Sri Veda Bharathi (the gist of four vedas) was kept.

Rajamahendravaram: Hundreds of people participated in Kanchi Paramacharya Paduka Yatra held here on Sunday. After offering prayers at Saraswathi Ghat, the yatra commenced from Saraswathi Ghat and many elite of the city carried the Pallaki on their shoulders in which Sri Veda Bharathi (the gist of four vedas) was kept.

From Saraswathi Ghat it was taken to Sri Visweswara Swamy Temple where the temple trust board chairman, Mandavilli Shiva and priests offered prayers to the padukas along with city MLA Dr Akula Satyanarayana. From there, the yatra went to Pushkar Ghat passing through main road, Vankayalavari Veedhi, Uma Markandeya Swamy Temple, Nalam Bhimaraju Street, Fort Gate, Kandakam Road, Pushkar Ghat, and finally to Saraswathi Ghat.

Speaking on the occasion, Satyanarayana said that Paramacharya Sri Chandrasekharendra Swamy toured in the country for 21 years to spread Hindu dharma. Kanchi Peetam is rendering yeomen service to society in the field of medical, education etc. Swamy is the 68th pontiff of the peetam.

Elite of the city Thota Subba Rao, RS Reddy, K Sarva Rayudu, Jaya Jaya Shankara TV CMD Ch V Prasad Rao, M Shiva and many others participated in the celestial fete. The paduka yatra would be continued on Monday and Tuesday in the city. The organisers appealed to the people to have the darshan of padukas.
