The bandh started in the early hours of the Monday in Prakasam district. The district-level leaders of CPI, CPM, YSRCP, Jana Sena and other parties protested in front of the APSRTC bus depot at 4am and restricted the buses from coming on to the roads. Similar obstructions were happened in Kandukur, Chirala, Giddalur, Markapuram, Kanigiri and other places.

The CPI district secretary ML, Narayana, CPM Eastern Prakasam district unit secretary Punati Anjaneyulu, the Congress district president, Eeda Sudhakara Reddy, YSRCP Ongole president Singaraju Venkatarao and others staged a protest at the district Collectorate, demanded that the Centre accord SCS for the state.

The Arunodaya Sankritika Samakhya played a skit to easily explain to the common man how Narendra Modi and Amit Shah providing major resources to other states and Karnataka by neglecting the needs of Andhra Pradesh. Journalists in Ongole also extended their support for the SCS and demanded that the Modi government announce SCS immediately.

In Giddalur, the YSRCP in-charge, IV Reddy led the agitation for the SCS. In Kandukur, the youth followed by former minister Mahidhar Reddy organised a rally in the town. In Chimakurthy, CPI state secretary Pamidi Venkatarao and leaders from the other parties conducted a rally from NSP Colony to old bus stand and held a Rasta Roko.

The main business areas including the Bapuji Market Complex, Trunk Road, Gandhi Road were shut down as the merchants extended their support to the SCS. In Kandukur, Kanigiri, Chirala, Cumbum and Giddalur, all shops in main business areas were closed voluntarily and their owners participated in the rally. At Collectorate, employees from various sections joined the protest rallies.
