Ongole: The Prakasam district unit of the Andhra Pradesh ASHA Workers Union protested in front of the Collectorate with Vanta- Varpu programme, demanding that the government release long pending dues immediately.

The association general secretary, G Aruna Jyothi said that the government was not releasing the honorariums for the last three months. She informed that the allowances for TB and Leprosy cases and uniform allowances were not paid for the last two years. She demanded that the government clear the dues immediately.

The government should set up a system to pay the honorariums every month by 5th, through the family welfare fund and delivery allowance through the medical officer. Promotions for the qualified ANMs and ANM training for the Intermediate passed ASHAs and provide facilities at the women waiting halls, she demanded.

The CITU district secretary, G Srinivasulu, Suseela, Nagamma and others led the protest while Satish and Hanumanta Rao from the 108 and 104 Employees Association extended support to the ASHA workers.
