SRKR Engineering College of Bhimavaram and Purdue University of America have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly take up innovative research to produce various products for society needs.

Bhimavaram: SRKR Engineering College of Bhimavaram and Purdue University of America have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly take up innovative research to produce various products for society needs.

The SRKR college principal Dr G Pardhasaradhi Varma visited the Purdue University and discussed with the University officials on the joint research programme. The University Engineering Project in Community Services (EPICS) and the SRKR Engineering College have agreed to take up the research jointly.

Varma said that the college would take up various projects in agriculture, medical and other fields linked to people’s needs. Already the college experts and associate professors K Chalapatiraju, D Srinivasa Reddy and evaluator P Krishnakanth Varma have been supervising various research programmes as EPICS conveners.

The college researchers have developed Solar Smart Aqua parameters system that uses in aqua ponds to estimate the oxygen levels, water density and temperature, water quality, ammonium nitrate and other information and send it to a mini computer. From the mini computer, the information of the aqua pond position would reach to the mobile of the farmer, he added. He said that another project like smart toilets was also designed and it would work without manpower.

He stated that the coin box type smart toilets would be useful in rural areas.District Collector K Bhaskar has inspected the project, he stated.

The principal said that the MoUs have been signed as part of the indo-universal collaboration for engineering education and SRKR was one of the 13 engineering colleges that signed the MoUs. The Purdue University would extend assistance of $1,000 for each project.
