Vijayawada: Manipal Hospital city unit head, Dr Sudhakar Kantipudi, expressed his happiness over the launch the new, advanced and revolutionary Brachytherapy machine treatment and therapy at the hospital.

Addressing the media here on Thursday, he said that the latest machine treatment aims to provide cancer patients with reduced late complications, lesser treatment time and thereby increasing patient comfort.

He said that with the latest addition of Brachytherapy machine, “We aim at accelerating treatment with higher success rates especially for endometrial and cervical cancers that remain prevalent in our society. Patients in and around Andhra Pradesh can now access cutting edge treatment without having to travel far and wide.”

He informed that by introducing this novel infrastructure and machinery, treating malignancies would become more effective and precise. It increases cure rate and conquers a deadly disease like cancer, he added.

Consultant, Radiation Oncology Dr Rama Krishna said, Brachytherapy was a critical component in treating of cervical and endometrial cancers that involves placing a radioactive source close to the tumor.
