Vijayawada: Deputy Commissioner of Police Kanti Rana Tata participated in a candlelight rally titled ‘Rally to End Child Abuse’, organised jointly by the Forum for Child Rights, the Child Line and the Bala Mithra here on Saturday evening.Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated the sincere effort of the NGOs in helping the missing children.

He said the department was taking all precautionary measures to rescue missing girls. He said through operation Muskaan, missing children traced and rescued were being handed over to organisations like Forum for Child rights, Child Line, Navajeevan, and other organisations as they would take care of their welfare and development.

He said that these NGOs were taking the responsibility of the children to make them better citizens.He explained that cases of child abuse were increasing day by day and stressed the need to create awareness. Everyone should feel the responsibility to fight against child abuse.

He said that all the laws and acts on child abuse should be implemented and the department should work with coordination to bring down these cases of child abuse. He said that any child who is in trouble should call 100 or 1098 for help.

S Bala Showry of Forum for Child Rights said that all the NGOs along with the police department should work together to make Vijayawada child-friendly city, he added.
