Interceptor Boat Charlie-438 commissioned

Speaking at a meeting arranged in this connection, the DGP said that Indian Coast Guard was the fourth largest in the world and appreciated that the patrolling ships were doing their operations well on this coast.
The DGP said that the police were fully cooperating with the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard and the police were working with coordination for a common goal and they would help the Coast Guard in coastal security, he added.
Speaking on this occasion, Coast Guard Eastern Region Inspector General Rajan Bargotra informed that the newly commissioned interceptor boat ICGS C-438 was made with the ultra-modern technology and was capable enough to guard the coast.
He explained that 135 ships, 62 aircraft were guarding the eastern coast. He also said that they were recruiting 700 sailors and 150 officers every year in the eastern region. In this connection, they launched the new patrolling boat C-438 under the commanding control of Assistant Commandant Manish Kumar Singh.
Speaking on this occasion, Kumar Singh revealed the details of the interceptor. He informed that the patrolling boat weighs 106 tonnes and 27.8 meters in length.
It would go up to 45 nautical miles speed and can travel 500 nautical miles without any interruption. It would accommodate 13 onboard staff. It has the capacity of patrolling at night time because of having an infrared surveillance system, he added.
District Collector Kartikeya Mishra, SP Vishal Gunni, Kakinada Sea Port vice-president Muralidhar, Kakinada Coast Guard Commandant Syam Kumar and others attended.
