Ongole: Those who plan long drives on the next day, should have enough and peaceful sleep and have food before they sit before the wheel, said Ch VK Subbarao, the DTC of Praksam district.

He along with the Additional SP, ABTS Udayarani, secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, T Raja Venkatadri, Dr Nageswara Rao from RIMS Ongole and Sriram Insurance agent Patnaik attended as chief guests for the 29th national road safety week celebrations at QIS Engineering Colleges here on Thursday.

In the road safety training for the drivers, staff and students at the QIS colleges, Subbarao explained about the qualifications for driving various vehicles, safety measures to be taken while driving, procedure to report accidents etc. He asked the participants to never go for driving on empty stomach and advised them to must take a small break after two hours of driving.

He said that sharing driving with a qualified driver was always a good idea and asked to check the condition of the vehicle before commencing the journey. He mentioned that the drunken driving and use of mobile phone reduces concentration on the driving and results in accidents. He asked them to must follow traffic rules and use indicators while crossing or overtaking vehicles.
