The DWMA Project Director, N Polappa assisted the Collector in the presentation.

The Collector explained the works done, initiatives taken and implemented best practices in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 to the committee. He explained the members, how the district suffering from continuous drought for four years utilized the MGNREGA scheme to provide livelihood to the people, reduce migrations at the same time providing the facilities and infrastructure in the rural areas.

The Collector explained that about 83,333 families were provided more than 100 days work, and 88 percent of the total 4,05,567 families receive their wages in less than three days of time.

He said that the wage seekers worked for 58.98 days of work on average and received Rs 137.57 as wages. He explained that the district spent Rs 601 crore under the MGNREGA to provide work and construct CC, gravel roads, panchayat, women organization buildings, animal hostels, burial grounds, fish drying platforms etc.
