Ongole: The police should continue to learn even after they were inducted in regular duties from training, said the Director General of Police, Dr M Malakondaiah.He participated as chief guest in the passing out parade of the 17th batch of stipendiary constables at Ongole Police Training College on Wednesday.

G Ramanjaneyulu, Additional Superintendent of Police and Principal of the Police Training College announced that the Ongole PTC had trained 6,703 constables in 16 batches since its inception as police recruitment school in 1983. In the 17th batch started on August 8, 2017, they trained 660 candidates from nine districts in the state.

He announced that there were 432 women constables in which 108 were from Guntur rural, 95 from East Godavari, 54 from Krishna, 53 from Vijayawada city, 37 from Chittoor, 34 from Vizianagaram, 31 from Rajahmundry urban, 22 from Tirupati urban police districts.

Out of 228 male constables, 121 were from Nellore, 63 from Vizianagaram, one from East Godavari and 43 from Rajahmundry urban districts. He also announced that 56 constables were post-graduates, 11 completed MCA, 100 engineers, 281 general graduates and 207 completed Intermediate education.

The district SP, B Satya Yesubabu announced that constables were trained on IPC, CRPC, local acts, personality development, police administration and documentation, keeping law and order, crimes and investigation, forensic science, forensic medicine, intelligence, internal security and other subjects as part of the training.

He also said that they were also provided training in yoga, squad drill, lathi drill, mob operation, map reading, field craft, first aid, firing and other required skills to make them rough and tough to carry on any duty. He announced that they were also trained in swimming, driving, self-defense to work in emergencies and natural calamities.

The DGP, Malakondaiah appreciated the parade by the passing out constables. He said that the constables should be open to learning in the field also as they will get to know new things in bandobust and investigation.

He said that discipline was most important to the police and asked them to keep fit themselves as they did in the training. The DGP announced that the accidents, communal disturbances and other types of crimes increased and asked them to control crime efficiently.

The IG of police training, N Sanjay, IG of south coastal zone KVV Gopal Rao and others also participated in the programme along with the family members of the constables.
