Kakinada: East Godavari district ranked first among the 13 districts in Andhra Pradesh in the effective implementation of e-office, biometric system and Meekosam grievance cell.

The National Informatics Centre (NIC) which functions from district Collectorate took the initiative in September 2017 and completed the process within a span of 7 months (by March 2018). A total of 112 departments including the ITDA, housing, revenue and Panchayat Raj have been covered in the district in the implementation of the e-office. A total number of 1,22,500 files were digitalized pertaining to these departments.

In the implementation of biometric system, the NIC took special initiative and made it possible for the employees to utilise the same both outside and inside their office. The system was developed in such a manner that it enabled the employees to avail leave and attend to duties outside the district.

As far as Meekosam grievances cell is concerned, the NIC authorities successfully updated the representations and redressed grievances as well.

NIC scientists Dr Syed Usman and Ch VBS Subba Rao said that they could achieve this task of being No 1 in implementation of the e-office, biometric and Meekosam systems with the active support extended by the district Collector Kartikeya Misra.
