Rajamahendravaram: Rashtriya Praja Congress (RPC) founder president Meda Srinivas has said that he can get Special Category Status (SCS) to the state if people elect two MPs and two MLAs of his party in the ensuing Assembly and general elections.

Addressing the party activists here on Thursday, he said TDP and YSRCP were asking the people to elect 25 MPs and 175 MLAs to get SCS, which was not correct.

If the parties work with commitment, the Central government accords SCS to the state. But the two parties were trying to get political mileage by making false promises, he criticised.

The TDP which sailed with the BJP-led government for four years took a U-turn and trying to get credit of SCS, to tone down the wrath of the people. The YSRCP was also trying for SCS and not even uttering a word against BJP government, he explained.
As a whole, all the parties were trying to put the people in the dark about SCS, Meda alleged.
