Akiveedu: The Joint Director of Fisheries Anjali along with Bheemavaram division director visited Cherukumilli village on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, they said that nine districts were identified where aquaculture is active.

They said they are enquiring into the complaints received in 'Mee Kosam' programme about digging the tanks for aquaculture. The JD said that the ground water levels are being plluted due to the excessive digging of tanks.

This will affect the paddy crop in near future, that's whay state government issued GO No. 16, she said. She said they are not sanctioning the permissions for digging tanks. "We are inspecting the tanks whether they have proper permission and prescribed standards. All these details will be submitted to the government, "she said.

Bheemavaram DD Phaniprakash, Akiveedu FDO Satynarayna, MRO Nagarjuna Reddy, VRO Daniah and staff of fisheries department were present.
