Guntur: Rural police on Sunday arrested five accused in connection with the sensational murder of pastor Vunam Subba Rao (68) in Tenali town.

According to police, the accused-- Arumbaka Rajesh, Vunnam Gopi, P Pavan Kumar, Suddapalli Prudviraj and K Anand Kumar-- purchased agriculture land from the deceased Vunnam Subba Rao and deposited Rs 6 lakh in his SB account in Andhra Bank and SBI in Kolakaluru village on April 24.

Later, the accused stole ATM cards of the deceased. They withdrew Rs 4,78,000 in cash from his ATM cards. When the deceased noticed this fraud, he prepared to lodge police complaint against the accused. The accused requested the deceased Subba Rao that they would repay that money and compromised with him. Later, they went to the house and strangulated him.

Based on a complaint, the police registered the case. They arrested the accused at Kolakaluru on Sunday.The cops recovered documents related to Rs 3.4 lakh property and Rs 83,000 cash in cash from them.
