4 bookies arrested
As part of continuous raids on the cricket betting in Prakasam district, the Giddalur and Markapur police arrested four bookies and seized mobile phones and ganza from them in two incidents and sent to remand on Wednesday.
Giddalur: As part of continuous raids on the cricket betting in Prakasam district, the Giddalur and Markapur police arrested four bookies and seized mobile phones and ganza from them in two incidents and sent to remand on Wednesday.
According to Markapur CI Bhim Naik, the local police arrested Kanneboyina Narayana and Dupati Suresh at the Gundlakamma bridge on Cumbum road on Wednesday morning. They seized Rs 20,000 in cash, mobile phones, a record book of cricket matches and one kg of ganza from them. Naik said that they were selling ganza for additional income apart from conducting the cricket betting.
Similarly, the Giddalur SI Mallikharjuna arrested Pathan Chinamabu Khan and Pathan Subhan Khan in the town and seized Rs 15,000, three mobile phones and 500 grams of ganza from each of them on Tuesday evening. The SI said that the accused were organizers for cricket betting and distributing ganza locally.
The police officers said that the accused were sent to remand after they were produced before the local courts on Wednesday.
