Ongole: YSRCP SC Cell Prakasam district president Pandi Ratnaraju demanded that Chief Minister Nara Chadrababu Naidu show love towards Dalits in action, but not mere words.Accompanied by local YSRCP leaders, Ratnaraju offered ‘Palabhishekam’ to Dr BR Ambedkar at his statue here on Wednesday, to protest the arrest of Meruga Nagarjuna, the YSRCP SC Cell president in Guntur on Tuesday.

Ratnaraju reminded that the chief minister had promised to erect a 125 feet tall statue of Dr BR Ambedkar and construct a memorial park in Amaravati, while speaking in the 125th birth anniversary of the national leader, three years ago.

He said that Dalits were waiting for the chief minister to keep his word, but they lost hope. So, the YSRCP SC Cell president Meruga Nagarjuna wanted to remind the promise of the CM to the government by taking up a Mouna Deeksha at the same place, where Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation stone for the project on Tuesday, Ratnaraju explained. But the police arrested Nagarjuna and broke the silent protest, by following the orders of the chief minister, he alleged.

As a protest to the arrest of Nagarjuna and others, the YSRCP cadre in Prakasam district was pouring milk over the statues of the Ambedkar, said Singaraju Venkatarao, the YSRCP town president. He demanded that the chief minister show love on Dalits in action, but not just making false promises. He warned the chief minister that if he could not keep his promises, Dalits were ready to teach him a lesson.

The YSRCP SC Cell state joint secretary Kommu Samuel, district sevadal president Obul Reddy, women wing member Badugu Indira and others also participated in the programme.
