Ongole: Former MP Panabaka Lakshmi criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not allowing his seniors to grow and occupy the chair.Speaking at the Congress office in Ongole, Lakshmi said that Rahul Gandhi had rejected the Prime Minister post earlier for not having enough experience.

Now he was perfectly ready to take the responsibility. She asked the Andhra people to teach a lesson to the BJP, which ruined the opportunities to the state after bifurcation.

Lakshmi said that the BJP leaders promised to accord Special Category Status to the state at various meetings but failed to keep the promise. She alleged that the BJP also broke the promises of providing jobs, establishing various institutions, industries to provide employment and support the state. She asked the people from Andhra Pradesh to teach a lesson to the party for cheating them.

Responding to Prime Minister’s comment on Rahul Gandhi’s announcement about his becoming prime minister, the former MP said that Rahul Gandhi turned down the offer of prime minister two times though Congress had full support in the Parliament. He wanted to gain experience by working with the seniors. Coming down heavily on Modi, who asked Rahul Gandhi to give the opportunity to seniors, Lakshmi asked Modi why he failed to practice the same before commenting.

There were a lot of leaders in BJP who were senior than Narendra Modi. But he took up the opportunity without giving a chance to them. She explained that Rahul Gandhi had gained enough experience to become the prime minister of the country and it was the wish of all seniors in the party to see him in the chair, she added.
