Eluru: West Godavari District Collector K Bhaskar expressed his anger over the Panchayat Secretaries for not clearing the garbage in the villages.
He presided over the review meeting on development of Panchayatis at Collectorate on Friday.

Addressing the meeting, the Collector found fault with Panchayati officials for garbage clearance. Though they were supposed to attend duties at 5.30 am, most of the officials were not residing in the respective villages. He said that the prime responsibility of Panchayat secretaries was sanitation and tax collection. He regretted that most of the employees were attending at 10.30 am to the duties.

He directed the extension officers of Panchayat Raj Department (EOPRD) to monitor the duties of Panchayati Secretaries in collecting the garbage from the houses.

He said that green vehicles would be provided to 909 Grama Panchayats in the district to Collect the garbage. He expressed his anger over the non-completion of construction of sheds relating to solid waste management over the last three years. He warned that if the EOPRDs failed to complete five solid waste management sheds per week and coordinating with the Secretaries, they would be suspended from the duties.

District Panchayati officer Mullapudi Venkata Ramana, Divisional Panchayat Officer Chinna Rao, EOPRDs participated in the meeting.
