Guntur: Rural police arrested five inter-state bootleggers belonging to Tamil Nadu and seized 250 kgs of ganja worth Rs 50 lakh while being illegally transported at Ganapavaram village under Nadendla mandal of Guntur district on Saturday. The cops also seized two cars, six cell phones and two duplicate number plates from their possession.

According to Guntur Rural Superintendent of Police Ch Venkata Appala Naidu, accused Vijaya Kumar, Jishnu, Kutendar, Vijaya Kumar and Mastan illegally transporting 250 kgs of ganja packed in 125 packets from Gondhiphalam village of Vizag district to Cumbum in Tamil Nadu state. Based on the information, the police started checking vehicles at Ganapavaram village.

During the vehicle checking, they seized 250 kgs ganja stocks from their possession. The market value of ganja stock they seized is Rs 50 lakh.

During the questioning, the accused confessed to the crime. They involved in smuggling ganja for the last 10 years. The police are yet to arrest another two accused Amaresh and Arjun.Police registered the case and took up investigation.
