Tanuku: Applicants seeking loan under self-employment guarantee scheme have been alleging that the bankers were not issuing loans to them though the SC Corporation declared them eligible. On the contrary, the officials have been giving loans to those who were recommended by local-level Janmabhoomi committees, they lamented.

The problem came to light at an awareness meeting held at Lions Club auditorium here on Tuesday. Applicants from different villages participated in the awareness session organised by the SC Corporation. The officials invited all the applicants who registered their names for getting loans for financial year 2018-19.

Candidates who had failed to get loans under self-employment scheme during the last four years attended the event. When the candidates raised their issue and expressed ire over the neglect of the administration, the officials evaded a direct reply.
The unemployed candidates charged the officials with granting loans to more than one members of the same family as the beneficiaries were recommended by local Janmabhoomi committees.

The beneficiaries who were close to ruling party leaders and their relatives were only getting the loans, they alleged. Though some of the beneficiaries belong to others, they were rejected by the bankers in the last minute by one pretext or the other, they informed the officials.

In Veerabhadrapuram, an unemployed person secured government subsidy which was deposited in the bank. However, when the candidate approached the bank officials, they advised him to deposit Rs 1 lakh in the bank to get loan.

In another case, a woman from Pydiparru accused the officials of sanctioning loans to two persons in the same family of a councilor who already secured a loan.
