Vijayawada: Volga Archery Academy founder Cherukuri Satyanarayana handed over a memorandum to Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) chairman Ankamma Chowdary at the SAAP office at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium here on Thursday.

SAAP chairman Ankamma Chowdary assured that he would resolve the issue by talking to the sports officials concerned and the government to fulfill the demands. Chowdary said that he knew Satyanarayana very well, and he was the founder of Archery in AP. He assured the academy founder that justice will be done.

Volga founder Satyanarayana recalled that he had called off the hunger strike on the assurance given by the SAAP chairman and no action was taken in the last week. He demanded that all the archers who had won medals at national, international and other prestigious tournaments for the country should be honored with prize money. He also said that a rally was organised and about 220 archers, archery coaches, APAA office-bearers and others from various parts of AP participated in the rally.

The rally started from Volga Academy to Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium. The Police requested him not to take out rally as prohibitory order under Section 30 was imposed. People were sent by autos and the rally took off from Mother Theresa Statue Moghalrajpuram to the IGMC stadium.
