mon2 Tirupati: A spotted deer was viciously attacked by stray dogs behind Balaji Institute of Surgery Research and Rehabilitation for the Disabled (BIRRD) Hospital, Tirupati, on Tuesday evening. Seeing the plight of the deer, about 30 monkeys jumped down to its rescue, and chased away the dogs. The commotion attracted the hospital staff who called in Dr Arun, a veterinary doctor at Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park. They also tended to the injured animal in the meantime. The doctor shifted the animal to the hospital and after treating it placed it under a 48-hour observation. It would be released into the deer safari on getting well, he said.
