Hyderabad: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Friday addressed an open letter to Speaker N Manohar to immediately disqualify 13 MLAs, including 8 Congress MLAs and 5 TDP MLAs, who switched loyalties to YSRCP by defying the whip during no-confidence motion. Addressing a press conference at new MLA quarters, Jogi Ramesh and Amarnath Reddy said that they would contest on YSRCP tickets if they were disqualified.

They exuded confidence that the Speaker would act independently in disqualifying them before June for elections and alleged that the government was trying to avoid elections if they were disqualified in July as per the constitutional norms.

They accused TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu of colluding with the Centre for selfish motives and abstained from supporting no-confidence motion. Had the TDP supported the motion, the government would not have burdened the people with hike in power charges, they remarked.
