Hyderabad: M Venkaiah Naidu, Rajya Sabha member and BJP senior leader on Saturday urged the party workers to reach out to masses who are looking towards the Bharatiya Janata Party with a great hope. Addressing the party state executive meeting here, he said that the people had become averse the Congress Party as well as the Congress led UPA, thanks to their dismal performance that had put the country on a backward streak. People were in need of an alternative and they knew very well that only the BJP could fulfill their aspirations. Naidu wanted the party men to rise to the occasion and take advantage of the growing disillusionment of the people with the Congress Governments at the Centre and the state. He pointed out that some of the political parties that had been claiming secular credentials were trying for aligning with MIM, ever since the latter had snapped its ties with the UPA. It smacks of their double standards. He also had a dig at the left parties saying that they lacked unity among themselves, but continue to dream of a larger third alternative. BJP state leaders Bandaru Dattatreya, N Indrasena Reddy, Dr K Lakshman, Ch Vidyasagar Rao and NVSS Prabhakar were among those who spoke on the occasion.
