Hyderabad : Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Joint Director VV Lakshminarayana on Tuesday handed over charge to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) H Venkatesh. A few days ago Lakshminarayana had been transferred back to his parent cadre, Maharashtra, on completion of seven years of service in the CBI.

Talking to the media after handing over the charge, Lakshminarayana said that the investigations in the pending cases would be completed by the CBI teams headed by Venkatesh. "Serving in my home state for seven years gave me immense professional satisfaction. We have used advanced technology in the investigation of some important cases and the investigation details have been submitted to the court," said Lakshminarayana.

"We have investigated certain cases according to the directions of the higher courts and there has been no pressure on them in connection with the probe," he informed. Lakshminarayana opined that corruption was the major obstacle in the country's growth. There would be no need for agencies like CBI and ACB if corruption was wiped out, he said adding that the agency is trying to bring awareness among people over corruption because abetting corruption is also a crime. "I wish to set up in future a residential school with high standards," he said.
