P Muralidhar Rao made general secretaryA nin2Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh got a major share in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national executive with nine leaders featuring in the 76-member team announced by the national president Rajnath Singh on Sunday. A P Muralidhar Rao (48) becomes the second general secretary of the party from the State after M Venkaiah Naidu, who held the post a long time back. Venkaiah Naidu was elected to a 12-member parliamentary board that also has PM hopeful Narendra Modi on its rolls. Muralidhar Rao, who was the national secretary of the party until recently was handed a higher responsibility this time. Muralidhar Rao was born in a farmer's family at Korapalli village in Karimnagar district. He joined RSS at a very young age. His north India sojourn began in 1987 when ABVP deputed him to Rajasthan. He worked as national convenor for Swadeshi Jagarn Manch for over 16 years from 1993-2008. He was inducted into BJP in January 2009 and a year later Nitin Gadkari made him the national secretary. The other leaders from the State inducted in Rajnath's team are Nirmala Sitharaman (official spokesperson), Dr K Haribabu (national disciplinary committee member), Bandaru Dattatreya, Dr K Laxman, K Shantha Reddy, Somu Veeraju and Perala Chandrasekhar.
