Hyderabad/Khammam: Even as a Khammam court posted further proceedings on the police plea for five-day police custody for arrested Maoist leader Sreeramula Srinivas aka Sudarshan, his wife Vimalakka is also said to have been taken into custody. It may be recalled Khammam police claimed on Sunday that Sudarshan was caught on Friday while travelling in a Bolero vehicle along with his wife and four others near Wyra, but managed to escape while being taken to police station. According to police, dramatic events took place subsequently and the Maoist leader was finally arrested, while his wife successfully managed to escape in the melee. But sources said Vimalakka is in police custody and being interrogated. Meanwhile, three other Maoists - T Lokanatham, his wife G Samrajyam and M Ravi surrendered before the Khammam police on Sunday. On the other hand, an application filed by the Khammam police seeking five-day police custody for Sudarshan for further questioning has been posted to Tuesday after the Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Committee (APCLC) representatives filed a petition opposing the plea. The counter petition filed by the APCLC said the police would only subject Sudarshan to torture in the name of eliciting more details. A Also, there was threat to the life of the Maoist leader at the hands of the police since there was every possibility of a stage-managed encounter, the counter petition said. Unconfirmed sources also said that officials of the Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB) of AP Police, Odisha and Maharashtra police already reached Khammam to question Sudarshan since he was involved in several offences registered in the three states.
