ysrcpHyderabad: Terming the 'black paper' issued by TDP on power a 'bundle of lies', YSR Congress Party on Wednesday held Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu responsible for the energy crisisA in the State and for trying to shift the blame on former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Addressing the press here, party leaders DA Somayajulu, G Sreekanth Reddy, Kapu Ramachandra Reddy and Janak Prasad said that the power sector was totally neglected and was ruined during the TDP regime, while YSR tried to revive it in the best possible way and launched several welfare schemes benefitting farmers, weavers and small and medium industries. "TDP only tried to cover up its faulty policies in the black paper," they said adding that Naidu behaved like an agent of the World Bank. The State Electricity Board, which was in profits between 1985 and 1994, was pushed into crisis in the 10-year TDP rule and the accumulated losses increased to Rs 20,000 crore. They said that it was Naidu who had done a record-breaking midnight feat by signing 23 MoUs to generate 10,000 MWs power with private parties which did not have proper credentials, in February 1995. "It was also the TDP chief who allotted power projects to GVK, Spectrum and has had earlier given guarantee and signed Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with terms that are favourable to industrialists," the party leaders said.
