T JAC chairman Prof. Kodanda Ram, TRS MLAs Etela Rajender and Jupalli Krishna Rao were among the leaders denied bail. The court dismissed their bail plea on the ground that another three accused in the same matter were absconding. The police slapped non-bailable cases against them under Sections 147, 148, 341, 188, 427, 109 read with 149. Cases were also booked against them invoking provisions of the Prevention of Destruction of Public Property Act 1984 by making them responsible for the attacks on some private vehicles as well as the RTC buses that were damaged during the road blockade programme on the 198-km long highway stretch connecting Hyderabad and Kurnool. The state Assembly also witnessed noisy scenes as the TRS members voiced protests over the arrests resulting in repeated adjournments. Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy invited them to his chamber and talked to them as they staged protests even in the lobbies of the House. The TRS delegation led by Harish Rao apprised the Chief Minister of the developments in the aftermath of the Sadak Bandh. The Chief Minister, however, pleaded ignorance on the arrest of the TJACleaders, but justified the police doing their duty during the protest.
