diggy raja AICC General Secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh, Digvijay Singh, has said that the Congress is committed to ensuring Hyderabad a part of Telangana after 10 years, and in the meantime "every effort will be made for a new capital for Andhra.” He said a resolution was passed by the party that Hyderabad would be the capital of Telangana. However, in an important revelation, he indicated the thinking of the Congress high command, saying Hyderabad could be modelled after Delhi where law and order is handled by the Centre even after it is made a state.

"We are looking at provisions like we have in Delhi where law and order is being handled by the Home Ministry directly and the Police Commissioner is directly responsible to the Lieutenant Governor...some kind of formulation we are looking at," the AICC General Secretary told Karan Thapar during the Devil's Advocate show. He was replying to a query by Thapar who specifically asked him if Hyderabad would be part of Telangana or it would be a Union Territory during the next 10 years.

On the demands for various new states, following the CWC announcement on Telangana State and whether the Congress would favour a Second States Reorganisation Commission, Singh said a Congress resolution in this regard in 2002 was still effective. “"This has been under the consideration of the government since 2002.
