Hyderabad : The bandh to protest against bifurcation of state and in support of integration entered the eighth day in Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday. The educational institutions have declared holiday up to August 12 in support of the Samaikyandhra state. B Appala Naidu, Congress MLA from Nellimarla constituency in Vizianagaram district and Satish Reddy, Telugu Desam MLC from Kadapa district resigned to their posts in protest against the bifurcation of the state. Another Congress MLA from Srikakulam M Neelakantham Naidu said he faxed his resignation to the PCC Chief.


Samaikyandhra protagonists attempted to storm the houses of several top leaders including the house of PCC Chief Botcha Satyanarayana in Vizianagaram, BJP National leader Venkaiah Naidu house in Nellore and the house of Union Minister for Human Resources Development Pallam Raju in Kakinada. In Kadapa district, all the 870 RTC buses were confined to depots throughout the district as the people all the district observed total bandh. No educational institution was open and they voluntarily declared closure of schools and colleges including those under the private managements. The students of IIIT at Idupulapaya took out a huge rally in support of Andhra Pradesh. The advocates observed relay fast at Proddutur town.


In Chittoor district, a bandh was observed in support of Samaikyandhra following the call given by the TDP. However, the buses towards Tirupati were exempted from the bandh. In Tirupati, the protagonists of integrated state resorted to rail roko for some time. In Tirupati town, a huge motorcycle rally was taken out under the leadership of YSR Congress MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy. In Kalahasti, the Naibrahmins took out a rally playing music in support of the Samaikyandhra. The Rayalaseema Cable Operators and MSOs Association extended its solidarity to the relay fast of Chittoor district Cable Operators and MSOs.


In Anantapur district, TDP MLA Paritala Sunita commenced fast in support of the unified state. In Anantapur town, TDP leader Prabhakar Chowdhary sat on protest fast. The milk distributors in the town observed bandh on Wednesday disrupting milk supply. The NGOs and government drivers took out a rally from the Government degree college.


The agitation in support of Samaikyandhra was intensified on Wednesday with the NGOs coming on to the streets. They organized Rasta roko at several places in the district disrupting normal life. The TDP MLA K E Prabhakar sat on fast on Wednesday in support of the Samaikyandhra state. In Kurnool city, the Vedic pundit Telakapalli Raghurama Sharma performed homam in support of Samaikyandhra. A rally of autos and tractors were taken out in the city in support of the unified state.


In Nellore district, the protagonists of Samaikyandhra tried to lay siege to the house of BJP national leader M Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday demanding his support to the unified state. The police intervened and sent away the agitators. He was not present in the town.


The polytechnic students organized a human chain on the flyover disrupting traffic in Nellore city. The YSR Congress leaders organized a rasta roko on the national highway disrupting traffic between Vijayawada and Chennai. In Prakasam district protests continued on Wednesday unabated. In Ongole town, students of private schools took out a rally. In Chirala, college students organized a huge rally. Municipal workers in the district boycotted duties. At several places, the effigies of Sonia Gandhi and K Chandrasekhar Rao were burnt. In Kandukur, the TDP organized a rally in support of united Andhra Pradesh. In Komarolu, print and electronic media journalists organized a rally in support of Samaikyandhra.


In Guntur, a rally was taken out with autos. The NGOs and Registered Medical Practitioners took out rallies in support of unified state. The market yard was closed as the farmers and commission agents resorted to a bandh. The farmers organized rasta roko on Guntur-Chilakaluripet main road disrupting traffic. In Mangalagiri, the priests stopped Arjita sevas in Lakshminarasimha Devastanam to protest against bifurcation of the state. The Devastanam employees and priests boycotted duties and allowed no special pujas except darshan. In West Godavari district, women took out a huge rally wearing black saris in Dendulur and Jangareddygudem villages to protest against bifurcation of the state.


In East Godavari, Congress MLAs Kannababu, Gandhi Mohan and Vanga Gita organized a homam against bifurcation of the state at Sabbavaram cross roads. The NGOs and JNTUC students took out huge rallies and they laid siege to the house of Union Minister Pallam Raju demanding his resignation. In Vizianagaram, NGOs tried to storm the house of PCC Chief Botcha Satyanarayana demanding his resignation. The police resorted to mild lathi charge to disperse the agitators. Nellimarla MLA Appala Naidu said he sent in his resignation to PCC chief. Rasta roko was organized at several places in the district.


In Srikakulam district, students organized a dharna at the Rajiv Gandhi statue in RIMS College campus. The NGOs and Municipal employees launched a 72-hour bandh.
