Visakhapatnam: Speakers here on Thursday at the Samaikyandhra round table meet organised to launch a non-political joint action committee to strengthen the movement for a united State favoured a violent agitation. Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao organised the round table meet to unite all sections to give the agitation a new dimension.

“Political parties are playing a ‘blame game’ and that’s why we need a non-political JAC,” Ganta said amid loud cheers. Top leaders representing their respective forums and intellectuals including doctors and lawyers have gone emotional and said, “We wouldn’t mind arrests and lathi-charge and even laying down our lives to keep the State together.” At one point of time Bhimili MLA Avanti Srinivas suggested to get the agitation intensified by violent protests.

“Unless the agitation is violent, nothing will work with the decision makers in Delhi,” he opined. He said that the High Power Committee would soon visit Visakhapatnam and “we need a strong representation in the form of a non-political JAC to make us heard.”

Prof Bala Mohan Das appealed to all to unite at this time of crisis. Prof Chandu Subba Rao, Director of Avanti Engineering College said film stars and producers of Seemandhra invested crores of rupees in Hyderabad and what would be their fate if the State was divided. “One person with vested interests is looking out to create unrest and we will not allow that to happen,” said VV Rama Rao and cautioned KCR to mind his words.

Rao even doubted the sincerity of KCR and said, “Maybe KCR doesn’t want the State to be broken and let us take the help of KCR to get the State united again.” The non-political JAC was formed with former Vice-Chancellor of Acharya Nagarjuna University Prof V Bala Mohan Das as chairman and former professors of Andhra University, K Ravi and Chandu Subba Rao as vice-chairmen. A 14-member team will assist them in the day to day activities.
